Will PLJ be affected?

We have thought through the issues and looked at the available guidance from government and the NHS and have put in place measures to minimise the impact of the virus on our clients, staff, contractors and the business in general.

Although we recognise that we may see some impact on some of our business streams, for others this may be limited.

We are aware that we have a significant number vulnerable clients in our Blocks and Lettings properties and that we will need think about their needs, not only physical ones but also from a mental health point of view.

We will continue to be available to our clients for 6 days per week for the foreseeable future.

Staff availability

We have purchased a number of laptops for staff in the Blocks, Lettings and Sales areas so that they can work remotely from home. Staff have also been provided with business mobile telephones.

Block Meetings with Directors are being re-arranged if required by using a Skype pr Zoom conferencing system.

Sales staff will also be on a duty rota.  In line with supporting the National effort to reduce social interaction we shall not be conducting 'in-person' viewings on properties at the moment, however our 'virtual viewings' option is available to all available properties - to let or for sale. Please note that following the update on 13th May we are currently reviewing our policy for conducting viewings on properties and consulting with our clients.

We will keep this under review, taking guidance from the government, our professional bodies, and the internal procedures of PLJ.

Details of any interested potential buyers will of course be noted and viewings may be booked in for a date in the future when we are advised that we can resume by our clients.

Market Appraisals or Ideas of Value can be carried out remotely in the first instance, following the guidance from the government and the procedures set out by PLJ, with a view to then conducting an in-person visit. Again, we are currently reviewing our possible procedures for this.

Sensible precautions

Disposable gloves, hand sanitiser and tissues will be made available to all staff, for all appointments once there are permitted to resume.

When attending an appointment, disposable gloves must be worn by both staff and other persons who have to be present.

Staff and any other persons present should observe the current government advice regarding self-distancing and remain 2 metres from any others. No more than 2 viewers may attend, and these must be from the same household.

Inspections of Lettings properties are being "paused" for the present time and will be re-arranged as the position becomes more clear.

Viewing properties 

We are fortunate that not only are detailed property details down-loadable from our website at but we also produce videoettes for each property, giving an animated viewing of the home.

Buyers can also telephone us and request an informal chat with a staff member who has attended the property so that they can discuss the suitability of the property for them.

Visits to our office to discuss property matters may be made by appointment as much of our working practices will continue to be conducted remotely during the present time.

Market Appraisals

We have staff available to give prospective Vendors 'Ideas of Value', as per the information above an in-person visit to the property may be possible from week commencing 18th May, subject to an initial remote/ virtual valuation having taken place.
